If you skied in the Dolomites between 2022 and 2025, it may be worth digging out your old ski passes and booking confirmations: Dolomiti Superski and its twelve affiliated ski areas are setting aside a total of €30 million for customers who bought passes in previous seasons. The scheme follows an investigation by Italy’s competition watchdog into possible restrictions on competition relating to the pricing and sale of local ski passes.
From October 15, 2026, eligible skiers can choose between a 20% cash refund and a 30% discount credit. Not every ski pass qualifies, however: notably, passes valid across the entire Dolomiti Superski network are excluded. We explain who is eligible, which documents you will need and why it may pay to apply early.

Who Is Eligible for a Refund?
The scheme is open to customers who bought a ski pass for one of the twelve individual Dolomiti Superski areas during the 2022/23, 2023/24 or 2024/25 winter season. Eligible products include one-day passes and multi-day passes valid for up to 31 consecutive days. Discounted tickets, promotional passes and open-date ski passes may also qualify. The same applies to Dolomiti SkiMyWay and Telepass day passes, provided they were valid for a single ski area only.
Nationality and place of residence do not matter, so visitors from Germany, France, Switzerland and other countries can apply as well. The key requirements are that the original purchase can be verified and that the pass falls into one of the eligible categories.
The Scheme Covers These Twelve Ski Areas
1. Cortina d’Ampezzo
2. Kronplatz
3. Alta Badia
4. Gröden/Seiser Alm
5. Val di Fassa/Carezza
6. Arabba/Marmolada
7. 3 Zinnen Dolomites
8. Val di Fiemme/Obereggen
9. San Martino di Castrozza/Passo Rolle
10. Gitschberg Jochtal/Brixen
11. Alpe Lusia/San Pellegrino
12. Civetta
The ski pass must have been valid across the whole of the respective ski area. Tickets covering only a smaller sub-area or a single lift are not eligible.
Which Ski Passes Are Excluded?
No compensation is available for one-day or multi-day passes that were valid across the entire Dolomiti Superski network. Season passes, Superski Family, Superdays, Valle Silver, points value cards, the Ikon Pass and half-day passes are also excluded. Free, cancelled, blocked or previously refunded tickets do not qualify either. The same applies to tickets for individual lifts or smaller sub-areas and to purchases made during the 2025/26 winter season.
The Skirama Adamello Brenta ski areas are not part of the scheme. These include Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Folgarida-Marilleva, Pejo, Tonale-Ponte di Legno, Paganella and Monte Bondone.
What About Combined Ski Passes?
Combined multi-day passes may be partially eligible. One example is a pass covering five days in Val di Fiemme and two days across the entire Dolomiti Superski network. In this case, only the portion of the price relating to Val di Fiemme will be included in the calculation. The two Dolomiti Superski days are excluded.
How Much Money Can You Get Back?
Eligible customers can choose between a 20% cash refund and a 30% discount credit. The calculation is based on the purchase amount approved after the claim has been reviewed. This may differ from the total amount originally paid, for example if only part of a combined pass qualifies or if not all previous purchases can be clearly verified.
Purchase amount | Cash refund | Discount credit |
|---|---|---|
| 100 Euro | 20 Euro | 30 Euro |
| 500 Euro | 100 Euro | 150 Euro |
| 1.000 Euro | 200 Euro | 300 Euro |
Customers who choose the direct refund will receive 20% of the approved amount by bank transfer. This option is particularly suitable for skiers who are not planning another trip to the Dolomites or who do not want to commit to a particular ski area.
The discount credit is worth 30% of the approved purchase amount. It can be used towards future winter ski passes for one individual ski area. While it offers the greater value, it requires another purchase. Applicants must select the ski area where they want to use the credit when submitting their claim, and this choice cannot be changed later.
Cash or Discount Credit: Which Option Is Better?
The discount credit is worth considerably more than the cash refund, but only if you actually use it. Skiers planning to return to the Dolomites by the end of the 2028/29 season and who already know which ski area they want to visit will get more value from the credit. It can be used across several purchases and combined with other discounts or promotional rates. Any unused balance remains available, and the discount code is transferable rather than being tied to a specific person.
Those who prefer to remain flexible, have no return trip planned or may choose a different ski region in the future are likely to be better off with the 20% cash refund. The decision should be made carefully: once the application has been submitted, applicants cannot switch from the refund to the credit or vice versa. The ski area selected for the credit cannot be changed either.
How Do You Apply?
The application platform is due to go live on October 15, 2026. It will be accessible via the Dolomiti Superski information page. Applicants will need to register in their own name, provide details of their previous purchases and choose between the cash refund and the discount credit. An IBAN is required for a bank transfer, while anyone choosing the credit must specify the ski area where they intend to use it.
If the original purchase is already stored in the Dolomiti Superski customer system, it should be verified automatically where possible. Otherwise, applicants will need to upload supporting documents. These may include the old ski pass number or keycard, purchase or booking confirmations, receipts, invoices, and bank or credit card statements. Anyone who still has these documents should locate and digitize them before the platform opens.
Tour operators cannot submit claims on behalf of their customers. The application must generally be submitted by the end customer who used the ski pass and can provide proof of payment.
What About Package Holidays and Family Purchases?
For package holidays, a general invoice covering accommodation, ski passes and other travel services will not be sufficient unless the cost of the ski pass is listed separately. Customers should therefore check whether their tour operator, hotel or booking platform can still provide an itemized invoice or confirmation.
The published rules do not yet make clear how family and group purchases will be handled if one person paid for all the passes but several people used them. Further details are expected when the application platform opens.
Why Should You Apply Early?
A total of €30 million is available under the scheme. Of this, €12 million has been earmarked for direct cash refunds and €18 million for discount credits. The credit fund will be released in three annual instalments of €6 million for the 2026/27, 2027/28 and 2028/29 winter seasons. Separate budgets of varying sizes have also been allocated to each of the twelve ski areas.
Refunds and credits will only be awarded while money remains available in the relevant fund. The application platform is expected to show how much is still available for each ski area and each type of compensation. Submitting an eligible claim therefore does not guarantee that a refund or credit will be awarded.
Applications will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the commitments submitted to the Italian Competition Authority, priority is determined by when an application has been reviewed and approved. Anyone whose documents require manual verification should therefore submit their claim as early as possible.
Why Are These Refunds Being Offered?
The scheme follows an investigation by the Italian Competition Authority, the AGCM, into Dolomiti Superski and its twelve affiliated regional ski area associations. The investigation examined possible coordination of local ski pass prices as well as potential restrictions on sales through third-party providers.
Dolomiti Superski and the regional associations committed, among other things, to giving the individual ski areas greater independence over their pricing and distribution policies and to making €30 million available to previous ski pass customers. The Competition Authority made these commitments legally binding but closed the proceedings without finding that an infringement had occurred. The payments are therefore not damages awarded by a court.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Ski Pass Refunds
Can Visitors From Outside Italy Apply?
Yes. The scheme is not limited to customers who live in Italy. The previous ski pass purchase and the other eligibility requirements are what matter.
What If I No Longer Have My Ski Pass?
The purchase may still be verified using a booking confirmation, invoice, credit card statement or bank statement. Whether the documents provided are sufficient will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Are Dolomiti Superski Passes Included?
No. One-day, multi-day and season passes valid across the entire Dolomiti Superski network are specifically excluded. The scheme only covers passes for one of the twelve individual ski areas.
Can I Combine the Cash Refund and the Discount Credit?
Not for the same purchase. Applicants must choose between the 20% refund by bank transfer and the 30% discount credit.
Can I Change My Decision Later?
No. Once the application has been submitted, neither the chosen form of compensation nor the ski area selected for the discount credit can be changed.
Do I Have to Use the Entire Discount Credit at Once?
No. The credit can be spread across several purchases. Any remaining balance will stay available until the end of the 2028/29 winter season.
Can I Give the Discount Credit to Someone Else?
Yes. The discount code is not personalized and can be transferred to another person.
Is There a Fixed Application Deadline?
The scheme is scheduled to run during the 2026/27, 2027/28 and 2028/29 winter seasons. However, the availability of funds is what ultimately matters. Eligible customers should therefore not wait until a possible final deadline before applying.
What Happens If the Fund Has Already Been Exhausted?
No compensation can be awarded once the relevant fund has run out, even if the ski pass would otherwise qualify. Submitting an application does not guarantee payment.
