Après Ski’s economy setting!
With fewer than 100 rooms for visitors, only three bars and one general store, Grand Targhee is among the smallest ski towns in the entire US. Alta, the next closest town, has a population of 500 and lies 12.4 miles (20km) west of it, so you really can’t expect too much in the way of apres-ski out of it. For a quick beer between runs or at the end of the day, check out the sun terrace at the base terminal of the Dreamcatcher. Bring a sack lunch with you from home or try out the fare from either the Rendezvous Lodge or Snorkels Cafe. The Trap Bar, with a scary-looking bear trap for a logo, is also located at the base. Enjoy a beer or two here after lift close before heading back to the hotel. If you need a little more night life than that, Jackson Hole, approximately an hour’s drive away, has some of the best apres-ski in the entire US.
