Durango Purgatory is the ideal destination for your family vacation in Colorado!
The Durango Mountain Resort up mountain from Purgatory has made families its focus, clearly distinguishing it from the larger Colorado resorts. The ski school is located in the Village Center building and offers half as well as full-day childcare. Parents hoping to explore the ski area and the surrounding San Juan Mountains together with their kids can start the day off on the practice slopes serviced by the Graduate and Columbine triple lifts below Purgatory Village. Then it's off to the easy trails off the Twilight and Engineer lifts. If your kids are already a bit more experienced, you should be able to ski the intermediate (intermediate trails are marked blue in the USA) trails off the Hermosa Park Express and Grizzly lifts without any problems. Basically, Durango doesn't leave any wish unfulfilled for families. It's only if you're planning on staying for over a week that you might find the trail selection a bit limited.
