      25% beginner friendly terrain!

A first glance at the trail map shows that „Coronet Peak“features mainly intermediate level terrain (in New Zealand earmarked blue). Nevertheless also beginners and less experienced skiers were considered! From 2008 on, the new “Novice Carpet” completes the beginner area “Big Easy” with the already existing “Magic Carpet Lift”. So novices to winter sports can comfortably improve their skills without having to use facilities that are beyond their scope. The “Meadow Chair” chairlift gives access to further gentle terrain composed of two easy descents. Those that venture the “Coronet Express Chair” lift to the 1649m high peak should however dispose of some experience in down hill skiing or snowboarding as solely intermediate level terrain (earmarked blue) and expert level terrain leads down from the peak into the valley. The easiest descent into the valley is the “Arnold’s Way” (see trail map). Our conclusion for beginners: “Coronet Peak” features a great beginner`s area (“Big Easy”), however the upper part of the resort is not beginner friendly terrain and some more easy terrain in that area of the ski-resort is left to be desired. 4 out 5 stars in the novice category.
