'Snowvember' brings Alps up to 70 centimeters of snow

Winter has officially arrived in the alpine ski resorts. The region has been getting snowfall for days, with up to 70 centimeters of fresh snow reported in the last 48 hours alone. 'Snowvember' is predicted to continue bringing snow to the Alps until this weekend. 

Some operators, like those of the ski school at the Hintertux Glacier, have already started clearing snow off their roofs.

Austrian ski resort Nassfeld is another one of the areas now covered in snow. Over 30 centimeters of fresh snow were reported last night, with 70 centimeters on the mountain now. The season starts December 6, 2019.

The region around the Mölltaler Glacier got so much snow during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday that the road from Kleindorf to the Glacier lift had to be closed due to fallen trees.

Almost 60 centimeters of fresh snow fell in the Austrian ski region of Zauchensee, with more to be expected in the next days.

The Ahorn mountain station of Mayrhofen received almost 50 centimeters of snow during the last two days.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm reported 30 centimeters of fresh snow, with another 30 predicted this weekend.

Heavy snowfall in Schladming-Dachstein makes the use of slopes in Planai and Reiteralm starting Friday, November 15 possible. The cross-country trails in Ramsau am Dachstein are already groomed as well.

70 centimeters of fresh snow were reported at the Stubai Glacier so far. Up to 140 more are set to be here by Monday!

The Turracher Höhe ski resort will begin its 2019-2020 season on Thursday, November 14. The region received 30 centimeters of fresh snow in the last two days.

Following 70 centimeters of snow in the last two days, the ski area Sölden had to make use of its snowblowers. Due to the snowfall, lifts at the Giggijoch were opened on November 13, one day earlier than planned.

Snow shoveling was also necessary at the Zugspitze. The season starts on Friday, November 15 here.

Winter idyll arrived in Jerzens im Pitztal this week. The ski season at the Hochzeiger starts at the end of November.
