Infinite off-piste fun in the "Saddle Basin“ and the "Motatapu Basin“!

For passionate freeriders and very skilled skiers “Treble Cone” is without doubt first choice in New Zealand. The black off-piste slopes “Drop-Off” and “Pay-Back” stretch across wide powder terrain and narrow and take you through narrow crevices back to the “Saddle Quad Chairlift”. And if you think these slopes are not demanding enough, venture into the “Motatapu Basin” where real challenge awaits all those that are strong of leg, lung and courage. It was very helpful that staff of the mountain patrol gave instructions where to find the nicest descents and where not to go. Unfortunately the slopes “Hollywood Bowl” and “Motatapu Chutes” don’t take you back to the “Saddle Quad”. One must take off the skis and get back to the resort on the “Southern Walk”. However “Treble Cone” is not only an Off-Piste resort. Many ski-teams from Europe and North America come to Wanaka during the summer months for training purposes. Therefore there is pretty much always a slalom or giant slalom track to be found at the “Home Basin” area.
