Fast and convenient: The three self-service restaurants on Stubaier Gletscher

Restaurant SB Gamsgarten (base station Eisjoch chairlift), Restaurant SB Eisgrat (base station Eisjoch 2 surface lift) and Restaurant Jochdohle at the highest point in the ski area offer three separate self-service options for visitors. Restaurant SB Gamsgarten is the largest restaurant in the ski area with space for 500 people inside and over 1000 seats in the outdoor area. The most popular dishes here are typical ski favourites like spaghetti bolognese, kaiserschmarrn and wiener schnitzel. Bergrestaurant Jochdohle is substantially smaller. Yet despite its more compact size, on a clear day the restaurant offers panoramic views of over 100 mountains measuring 3,000 metres or above. The Jochdohle, at an altitude of 3150 metres above sea level, is on the transitionary slope between the southern runs on Gaisskarferner and the trails back into the main area down from the Schaufeljoch lift. It is the highest restaurant in all of Tyrol. The food here is relatively simple, though people love to come for the "XXL Wienerschnitzel”. The Skihütte am Bödele also offers snacks and drinks if you fancy a break between runs.

For discerning palates: Award-winning restaurant Schaufelspitz and Restaurant zur Goldenen Gams

Everyone that appreciates extraordinary cuisine during a ski break should definitely check out Restaurant Schaufelspitze at the Eisgrat mountain station at 2,900 metres above sea level. The restaurant markets itself with the claim of being “the highest award-winning restaurant in the Alps” – a slogan backed up by its two “Hauben” and 15 points in the Gault-Millau-Guide 2016. The Schaufelspitz has a welcoming interior with an open fire, offering space for 55 guests. The adjoining sundeck complements this with additional seating for 50 people.

Somewhat lower down Gamsgarten, the Restaurant zur Goldenen Gams offers more down-to-earth dishes ranging from local specialities to international cuisine. This restaurant also offers an attractive sundeck with great views in good weather. If you’re looking for high-quality food at an affordable price, the Goldenen Gams is just the ticket.

There are some, but the food is mostly, boring, bland and dry.
