Völkl Rise High 88 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2020/2021)

Product Summary

Due to its lighweight construction the Völkl Rise High 88 is easy to handle not only downhill but also during longer ascents. This ski is just right for good skiers. Stable but not overpowering. The Rise High 88 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. The ski is available from 160 to 180cm.

The ski in details

A super light carbon ski for the experienced touring skier.

What matters to you? Weight? Uphill performance? Riding qualities? Performance in less ideal conditions? All of it? Well then, here is your ski. The new Rise High 88 is an all-carbon touring ski with a fantastic weight-performance ratio. Even though it weighs only 1090 g (@170), it offers great durability and provides confidence in the performance in high and difficult terrain.

In addition to the Full Carbon jacket the 88 also features the new Smart Skinclip adjustment system which is available with the new Fibre Tech and Smart Glue skins.

Technologies

Tip Rocker

Full Carbon Jacket: Material layup for direct transmission and high reliability/stability at the lighest possible weight.

Tourlite Woodcore: The combination of beech under the binding and poplar plus paulownia in the outer areas results in a very lightweight woodcore construction which proved to work especially well for touring skis.

Smart Skinclip: The newly developed Smart Skinclip system allows the ski tourer to decide for himself, depending on the situation, in which direction he should pull the skin on and off. A standard snap hook at the tail end of the ski allows the skin to be attached and detached from behind. The skin can, however, also be pulled on and off quickly and easily from the front. This new flexibility is made possible by an elastic snap hook, which is also easy to grip with gloves. A subtle depression in the ski tip gives the hook lateral guidance and prevents it from unintentionally releasing the skin while walking.
