Völkl Rise Beyond 96 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2021/2022)

Product Summary

The Völkl Rise Beyond 96 is the perfect tool during both downhill rides and steep ascents. Thanks to its low weight, the ski is easy to master even on longer trips. Effortless to ride at all speeds, this ski is just right for all intermediate skiers. The Rise Beyond 96 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. Available lengths for the ski are ranging between 156 and 184cm.

The ski in details

Powder touring skis with a 3D radius sidecut for stunning downhill performance

The new Rise Beyond 96 is available in five different lengths. With its tip rocker, the widest model in the touring collection delivers fantastic flotation even in the softest powder descents. The Tourlite hybrid wood core in combination with the carbon tip shovel enables a very light (<1,300 g in the 170 cm version) and resilient construction, which makes the skis a reliable partner on long ascents. Thanks to the 3D radius construction, the lively ski is an absolute dream in wide, open powder turns as well as in narrow passages where excellent agility is required.

The Smart Skinclip attachment system is fully compatible with both Fibre Tech and Smart Glue skins.

Technologies

3D Radius Sidecut: Three radii in one ski for maximum turning & speed versatility in all mountain skiing

Smart Skinclip: The newly developed Smart Skinclip system allows the ski tourer to decide for himself, depending on the situation, in which direction he should pull the skin on and off. A standard snap hook at the tail end of the ski allows the skin to be attached and detached from behind. The skin can, however, also be pulled on and off quickly and easily from the front. This new flexibility is made possible by an elastic snap hook, which is also easy to grip with gloves. A subtle depression in the ski tip gives the hook lateral guidance and prevents it from unintentionally releasing the skin while walking.

Tourlite Woodcore: A particularly light and complex wood core specially developed for touring skis. In the area around the steel edges, a poplar wood hand-picked by weight provides the necessary stability, while in the center of the ski, the soft and light Paulownia wood ensures the ski's flexibility. In the binding area beech wood provides the strength, which is needed to hold the screws of the binding. In the center of the core, a CNC-milled Isocore area contributes to optimal liveliness and dynamic development.
Only the lightest batch of each wood delivery makes it into these cores.

Tip Rocker: Only bends upwards in the shovel area, while the middle and tail of the ski feature a camber shape
