Völkl BMT 90 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2021/2022)

Product Summary

Due to its lighweight construction the Völkl BMT 90 is easy to handle not only downhill but also during longer ascents. This ski is just right for good skiers. Stable but not overpowering. The BMT 90 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. The ski is available from 163 to 184cm.

The ski in details

The BMT with the biggest range of use in the line for the traditionally oriented touring skier.

The model with the biggest range of use in the line. The impressively light BMT 90 is predestined for the more traditionally oriented touring skier as the camber under the boot delivers more pressure on the ground resulting in a better ski steering while hiking up or skiing down. The BMT 90 brings huge versatility to skiers looking for a light weight setup capable of long tours that can also ski the whole mountain in bounds in a variety of conditions. Its full carbon jacket construction makes the ski smooth and stable, while tip & tail rocker with camber under foot deliver liveliness and maneuverability.

Technologies

Skin Pin: 100% secure and custom-fit connection of skin to ski.

3D.Ridge Carbon: Central Woodcore Ridge with superslim wings to significantly reduce weight and swing weight and keep the stability where necessary. Combined with Full Carbon Jacket for Stability.

Ice.Off Topsheet: The unique surface structure and material composition reduces icing as the snow simply slides off the topsheet. This leads to a drastic reduction of weight in use, on average up to 20% to 30%. Lighter skis prevent fatigue, especially on long and steep uphill sections.

Full Carbon Jacket: Material layup for direct transmission and high reliability/stability at the lightest possible weight.

Center Sidewall: Direct and strong power transmission with partial sidewalls in the center of the ski, combined with the superslim 3D.Ridge construction.

Multilayer Woodcore Lite: The combination of light beech and poplar results in a very durable woodcore composed of hard wood in the binding area and - due to its dedicated slots - lighter wood around.
