An entire mountain just for beginners at Telluride!

It isn't often that a ski resort receives our highest possible rating in both the beginners' and the Freeriding/Extreme Skiing categories. Telluride, however, has a whole mountain - on its east side off the Sundance lift – full of beginner-friendly trails, and the more experienced skiers get their adrenaline rush in higher-elevated area on its west side. The result is a clearly visible one: the part chairlift, part gondola, Chondola lift, connects a 1600 ft long (500m) practice area below Mountain Village to the ski area. Here a magic carpet lift has been provided for those skiers not quite ready to board a chairlift. Once the necessary basic skills have been acquired in the practice area, it's off to the easy slopes off of Sunshine Express (lift no.10). We recommend taking Double Cabin and then merging onto Lower Galloping Goose, where you can improve your skills along almost two whole miles of trail. Further easy trails can be found off the Prospect Bowl Express (no.12). If you've booked rooms in Mountain Village, you'll find that you can go directly from the easy trails back to the hotel. If you need to go back to Telluride, and you're not an all-too experienced skier, you'll be better off taking the gondola, since all trails heading back to the village are fairly pretty challenging.
