Hochzillertal-Hochfügen: The allround ski region in Zillertal with 5 stars culinary delights

The ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen has it all, our test has shown. Beginners will find gondolas at the mountain station of Hochzillertal as well as excellent exercise slopes in Hochfügen, whereas sportive skiers will love the highly modern ski lifts with heated 8-seater and 6-seater chairlifts as well as the wide carving runs at the “Kristallexpress”. If you're looking for the ultimate challenge, you shouldn't miss the adventurous side of the wonderful black “Obi Traudi” or, if sufficiently experienced, you opt for exploring the freeride area in Hochfügen.

A major highlight in Hochzillertal-Hochfügen are the 5 star standard hotels and restaurants. Both mountain huts, the Wedelhütte and the Kristallhütte, are best-known for their refined cuisine among skiers. You will especially remember this place well if you decide to stay overnight. Being accommodated on a height of 2,150m (7,054ft) above sea level at the Kristallhütte or in the Wedelhütte on 2,352m (7,717ft) altitude, allows a stunning view on the enchanting mountain world of Zillertal.

Considering the new criteria of measuring ski resorts, the overall ski-trails “have shrunk” from a former 155km to a mere 77km. The versatile range of runs in combination with modern ski lifts makes the ski region appear way bigger than it actually is. You may additionally obtain the Zillertal super ski pass starting from 2 days, guaranteeing access to the following ski areas: Mayrhofen, Zillertal Arena, Spieljochbahn and the Hintertux glacier.

Varied and the best huts in Tyrol. Price - performance of the huts is brilliant! You cannot eat as well as here. Many deep snow variations in Hochfügen... But when will the connection to Spieljoch and Mayrhofen be made?

Many pistes, perfect grooming, often very crowded.
As part of the Zillertal I always like to ride there again. Nevertheless, 3 things should be improved: Cable railway line to Onkeljoch/joining (probably in preparation), cable car to Zell (Valley s... Read complete review
