First class ski resort for intermediate skiers in Germany!
40 km of skiable terrain might not sound too enthusing if you are used to skiing far larger resorts. However we decided that Garmisch Partenkirchen definitely offers enough diversion and challenge for intermediate skiers to spend a fun day or two on the slopes. Especially for a day or weekend excursion Garmisch Partenkirchen is highly recommendable because it is so easily accessible via the A95. When snow conditions are good all 5 descents down to the valley are fun guarantors and offer up to 4 km long thrills. Unfortunately there is no artificial snowmaking at the Osterfeldkopf and at the Kreuzeck. Especially recommendable intermediate terrain are the Osterfelder Trail and the Längenfelder trail. Garmisch is not a mega-resort and some of the lift facilities are rather old. On the plus side we found that it allows for a unique character and very special charm super-modern-mega-resorts often lack. And the brand new state-of-the-art Kandahar-Express (including heated seats) makes up for any inconveniences caused by the older lift facilities.
