Donner Lake Inn in Truckee, CA

This mountain lodge across from Donner Lake, just 1.2 miles off Interstate 80, sits on over an acre of forest along year-round Gregory Creek offers something for everyone. Each themed guest room has a gas fireplace, private shower and forest view. Guests will appreciate our comfortably furnished great room with fireplace, books, and many games, or our summer seating areas/deck. For summer, Donner Lake with its public beach and boat launch are within walking distance. In winter, major Alpine and Nordic ski areas are within a short drive. Start your adventure with a hearty homemade breakfast before heading out to the slopes, lake, river, horseback, bikes, or mountain climbing…. In the afternoon enjoy a light snack and beverage with family and friends. Head into Truckee for dinner and return to the B & B and relax in the under the stars hot tub before turning in for the night.

We have 5 rooms, each with private entrance.  Two rooms have queen beds and accomodate 2 persons, 2 rooms with Queen + Twin and can accomodate 3 persons, and 1 room with a Queen and set of childrens bunk beds that can accomodate 2 adults and 2 children (under 18);  Our upstairs Great Room is available from 4:00 PM until 9:30PM for guest use for games, reading, puzzles...

"Breakfast worth getting up for"  describes our hearty country breakfasts featuring home made bread products.  Each breakfast will feature a varierty of juices, fresh fruits, breakfast meats, bread/egg dishes.  Vegan dishes are available with advance notice.  There are many resturants in Truckee and most have menus available for review at the B & B.

Nestled alongside Gregory Creek, our year round under the stars hot-tub offers a place to relax after your day's adventures and activities.  Available in the evening until 9:30 PM.

Donner Lake is across the street offering some great fishing, paddleboarding, water skiing...  Close by is the Truckee River-home to some of the world's best fly fishing.  Just a few miles up Old Hwy 40 are some rock climbing areas.  Truckee is a very bike friendly town and offers all sorts of mountain and street bike options.  For the golfers, there are multiple great courses located just a few miles from the B & B.  During winter, multiple Alpine and Nordic ski areas are easily accessed from the B & B.  The newly remodeled Donner State Memorial Park is located just 3 miles down the road.

The Donner Memorial State Park, just 3 miles down Donner Pass Road features a history of the travels over Donner Summit by the decade.  Walking around Donner lake is just a 7 mile easy level walk.  World Famous Lake Tahoe is just a 20 minute drive to the North Shore and a 70 mile drive around ther entire lake with many photo spots along the way.  Just 20 minutes from the B & B is located Squaw Valley Ski Resort- home of the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Located just a 5 minute walk from the West End Beach which features playground equipment for children of all ages, beach rentals....

Access to us is very easy:

From the San Francisco Bay Area/Sacramento side-   Take I-80 East towards Reno.  Pass through Sacramento continuing on I-80.  As you approach Truckee/Donner Lake area, take exit number 180 (Donner Lake). Go down towards the lake approx 1.2 miles- The green Donner Lake Inn B & B sign will be on your right.  If you get to Donner Pass Road- you went 1/2 block too far.

From the Reno side- Take I-80 heading West towards California.  Cross into California and go through the “Agricultural Inspection Station” continuing on Interstate 80.  Stay on the freeway past several Truckee exits until you get to exit number 180 (Donner Lake), just beyond the vista point. Go down towards the lake approx 1.2 miles- The green Donner Lake Inn Bed & Breakfast sign will be on your right.  If you get to Donner Pass Road- you went 1/2 block too far.
