The Cross-Country Area
A cross-country ski trail network of almost 100 kilometres stretches between Suhl and Schmiedefeld at Rennsteig. Near Heidersbach the cross-country trails lead through the forests of Beerberg, Geiersberg and Fichtenkopf. North of Schmiedefeld, the Große Eisenberg and the Große Finsterberg invite sporty cross-country skiers to more demanding laps. Vesser also boasts trails for all levels of ability. The technical course at the Schmiedefeld sports field can be illuminated as a night trail.
