The Cross-Country Area
Oberwiesenthal is the gate to incredible 75 kilometers (46,6 miles) of cross-country skiing trails. Some of the eight trails invite well into late spring. Beginners should check out the "Kreuzbrückenfelsenloipe" trail with a length of 5,5 kilometer (3,4 miles) and the "Höhenloipe" that is 5 kilometer (3,1 miles) long. Cross-country skiers with more experience should definitely hit the "Aussichtsloipe", starting at the sport center of Fichtelberg. Experts shouldn´t miss out on the "Eliteloipe. It´s 5 kilometer (3,1 miles) long and with gradients as steep as 14 percent and leaves no skier or rider unchallenged.

Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 29 " at summit elevation and 20 " at the base. This makes Oberwiesenthal Fichtelberg the cross-Country skiing area with the best snow conditions in Saxony.
