Tina Maze achieves amazing win in St. Moritz

Slovenian Tina Maze took advantage of changing weather conditions on Saturday in St. Moritz, Switzerland and surprisingly won the downhill. With this win Maze became the first Slovenian racer to win a World Cup downhill.

Lara Gut a surprising third
Maze started with bib 47 and shook the whole World elite in downhill. Weather was clearing up and the Slovenian clocked the fastest time. She beat by 0,34 seconds Austria’s Maria Holaus, who believed to have won that race for a long time. 16-years-old Lara Gut was another hugh surprise as she came in third and crashing near the finish line but still managing to be second.

Goetschl and Hosp far behind
Emily Brydon from Canada was 4th and Lindsey Vonn (USA) 5th. Vonn almost crashed during her run but held herself in the course. Strong Austrians Renate Goetschl and Nicole didn´t have her best day and finished only in shared 14th place. Still Hosp had the lead in the Overall World Cup standings.
