Riesch takes second globe at Suter victory

On the first day of the World Cup finals in Bormio the women´s Super G was carried out. While Maria Riesch made sure the win of the discipline World Cup Switzerland´s Fabienne Suter scored to the second World Cup victory this winter.

Suter storms to second World Cup victory
Fabienne Suter who went into the race with the late bib 21 showed an impressive performance and celebrated the second World Cup victory of her career after her triumph in Sestriere approximately one month ago. On place two Lindsey Vonn could gain another worthy points concerning her lead in the overall World Cup. Alexandra Meissnitzer became third. The Austrian completed the last race of her career and was able to say farewell with a great result once more.

Riesch clinches Super G crown
Vonn, who was in the lead until Suter’s arrival, is now 197 points ahead of Germany’s Maria Riesch who came in 6th in that race. That was enough for the 23 years old to clinch the Super-G World Cup crown. Nicole Hosp has no chances to defend last year´s title anymore. The Austrian became eleventh in the speed competition that day.
