Riesch celebrates first victory of the season in Cortina

Maria Riesch has won the second Super G in Cortina d’Ampezzo. For the 23-years-old German it was the first World Cup triumph since December 1st 2006 in Lake Louise and the first victory for the German skiing Federation this winter. Two Austrian made it to the podium: Elisabeth Goergl and Renate Goetschl.

Strong team result for Austria
The Austrian women didn´t only convince with Goergl´s and Goetschl´s performance but also with further finishes among the top ten. Also Marlies Schild and Andrea Fischbacher reached places nine and ten and provided the team with a good result. For Goetschl the third place was a placative completion in Cortina. So she was on the podium at least one time on her favourite course. From places four two six Lindsey Vonn, Britt Janyk and Julia Mancuso collected further World Cup points.

Overall World Cup exciting again
The overall World Cup is exciting agagin. As leader Nicole Hosp dropped out and keep sher 759 points Maria Riesch got closer to her capturing 100 points for her Super G victory. On place three she is only 46 point sbehind the Austrian. Lindsey Vonn profits by her good results in the speed disciplines and is second so far with 733 points.
