Reinfried Herbst wins slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

At the World Cup slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen the Austrian Reinfried Herbst won his second World Cup race of his career. Herbst had the best run in both legs and celebrated a convincing victory.

Moelgg and Kostelic also on the podium
Many favorites didn´t have their best days and so Herbst took advantage with two almost perfect runs. In the end he beat Italy´s Manfred Moelgg by 0,65 seconds. Third was the Croatian star Ivica Kostelic who was 1,18 seconds behind Herbst. Another surprise was Christian Deville of Italy in 4th place with France’s Julien Lizeroux coming in as 5th.

Favorites not in front
All the favorites for the win were not in the top rankings. Jean-Baptiste Grange, leader of the slalom World Cup, finished far behind, so did Benjamin Raich and local favorite Felix Neureuther. Mario Matt even crashed in the second run and didn´t collect any points.
