After the Swiss double in giant slalom in Adelboden the Austrians struck back in slalom. Mario Matt showed himself in a good shape again and won the second competition of the weekend ahead of his team mate Benjamin Raich and German Felix Neureuther.
Comeback for Schoenfelder on four
Rainer Schoenfelder who celebrated his comeback after a crash in Bad Kleinkirchheim was an excellent forth and crossed the time measurement at the same time like Italian Manfred Moelgg. Ivica Kostelic from Croatia reached a promising sixth place. He dropped back from place two in the first run after he had made some mistakes later on.
Favorites drop out
Many favorites didn´t reach the finish either in the first or in the second run such as Kalle Palander (FIN), Swiss Marc Berthod and Daniel Albrecht who scored the double the day before, Ted Ligety (USA) who was on the promising third position in the first run or Jean Baptiste Grange from France who lost his lead in the slalom World Cup.
