Karbon dominates Giant Slalom in Lienz

Once again Denise Karbon dominated the field in the giant slalom as she won in brilliant style the giant slalom event in Lienz.

With this victory Karbon won now the third giant slalom in a row this season and has already 300 points in this specialty. Karbon clocked the fastest time in both runs and bear by 1,28 seconds Julia Mancuso (USA) and even by 1,52 seconds her teammate Nicole Gius who was also on the podium. Austrian Elisabeth Goergl had an impressive second run and finished 4th.

Schild and Hosp not on the podium
Two of the main favorites, Marlies Schild and Nicole Hosp from Austria, finished in disappoiting territory in 16th and 24th place. Germany´s Kathrin Hölzl came in 5th but expected a bit more after the first run in which she was 2nd. Tanja Poutiainen came in 6th and Anja Paerson was 9th.

Bad crash by Resi Stiegler
For resi Stiegler the giant slalom ended in a bad crash in the middle of the first run. The 23-year-old lost her balance and fell on her back in one of the steepest parts of the slope. Then she slipped unter the safety nets and was only stopped shortly before a pine tree.
