Goergl wins last giant slalom in Bormio

Elisabeth Goergl has achieved the second place in the discipline standings at the World Cup in Italian Bormio. Already before the last race Denise Karbon had decided the discipline standings as she skied a sensational season. In Italy she completed the race with an eighth place.

Goergl triumphs ahead of Moelgg and Zettel
2:24,96 minutes were sufficient for "Lizzy" Goergl to send Manuela Moelgg and Kathrin Zettel off the first place. After position two in the first run she showed risky and stout-hearted run and achieved the minimum time around the last gates. From place three to six it was a tight decision. Behind Zettel Ingrid Jacquemod missed the podium by two hundredths of a second. Tanja Poutiainen and Marlies Schild followed within the next tenth. Young German Viktoria Rebensburg exploded in the final and put down the fastest time of the day. This performance took her to position ten in the end.

Hosp becomes second in overall World Cup
The most important question was who became second behind Vonn in the overall World Cup standings. Here already the first run had been decisive. Maria Riesch dropped out after she had slipped away and so the chance was there for Nicole Hosp. Although her run wasn´t flawless she got enough points for the eleventh place and claimed the runner-up position.
