Denise Karbon celebrates further victory

By a phenomenal performance in the second run Italy´s Denise Karbon has won the giant slalom in Ofterschwang (GER) and so almost made sure the overall standings in this discipline. She won in Ofterschwang in 2.22,26 minutes and celebrated her fifth victory of the season. Karbon won in front of an impressive audience of 7.500 spectators and best weather ahead of the Austrians Nicole Hosp and Elisabeth Goergl.

Hosp leads after first run
After the first run Nicole Hosp was still ahead of all her competitors. The Austrian completed a good run and beat Italian Manuela Moelgg by 36 hundredths of a second. Goergl became third after run number one. Denise Karbon took part despite a broken thumb and was ninth. Best German was Kathrin Hoelzl on position five.

Brilliant run leads to victory
In the final Karbon attacked in spite of her handicap and conjured up a gorgeous time in the snow. No skier was able to threaten the Italian´s benchmark so that Karbon was on top once again this winter. Nicole Hosp gamed away her margin by some mistakes but nevertheless she scored her best giant slalom result of the season.
