Another big win for Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn celebrated her fifth win of the season this Saturday at Sestriere on the Kandahar Banchetta course. The American once again dominated the field and won by 0,62 seconds ahead of Kelly Vanderbeek (CAN) and 0,77 seconds ahead of Nadia Fanchini of Italy. With this win Vonn took over the lead in the Overall World Cup and extended her lead in the Downhill World Cup.

Goetschl misses podium
Experienced Renate Goetschl missed the podium by a bit and came in as solid fourth. She was only 0,08 seconds behind third placed Fanchini. Goetschl shared the fourth place with Nadia Styger from Switzerland. Right behind Goetschl and Styger was Maria Riesch in sixth place and collected some more points for the Overall World Cup.

Hosp far behind
It was a rather disappointing race for the Downhill World Champion Anja Paerson who came in 10th and was more than a second behind the winner Vonn. The surprising winner of the St. Moritz downhill, Tina Maze from Slovenia, finished as 13th. The Overall World Cup leader Nicole Hosp didn´t have her best day and was only 23rd. She is now three points behind Vonn in the standings. Riesch is a good third in the Overall standings.
