The ski in details
World Cup slalom legend with the most radical radius of the entire collection
Introduced in 1970 as the Renntiger, no other Völkl epitomises performance and success quite like the Racetiger. The Racetiger SL comes into its own on slalom courses and on general pistes in tight bends and wherever you need lightning-fast edge changes, responsiveness, and a consistently superlative glide. The Racetiger SL features Tailored Carbon Tips for the first time this coming season. Tailor-made carbon fibres allow the ski to be adapted to exactly the things it’s going to be used for. The strength and alignment of the fibres define the force you need to apply and the energy that builds up in exactly the right places, which means agile shovel reaction with a precise response the moment you initiate a turn. The new SL can be steered around the tightest bends with less power input but with no loss whatsoever in precision and control.
Its improved performance is due largely to a slightly shortened and flattened tip rocker and, most especially, a slightly modified geometry. A narrower waist delivers a much more dynamic, responsive ride with high-precision edge changes.
These features are perfectly rounded off by 3D Glass, two full layers of Titanal and our renowned multilayer wood core, as well as our new R-Motion 3 GW binding. A shortened plate combined with a wider hole pattern delivers stronger, more direct power transmission and helps you switch edges quicker. The real highlight, however, is that the two rear screws are no longer fixed, allowing the binding to slide freely and the ski to move harmoniously through the entire line of the bend, giving improved edge grip without blocking.
Tailored Carbon Tips
In this innovative manufacturing process the new Tailored Carbon Tips are produced by embroidering the individual carbon fibers onto a carrier material. The stiffness, torsion and thus the skiing characteristics can be specifically adjusted via the fiber thickness and millimeter-precise alignment. In this way, the fibers guide the dynamics to the areas of the ski where they are needed. The visibly integrated Tailored Carbon Tips are light, allow an agile shovel reaction with less effort and quickly build up energy. The Tailored Carbon Tips thus reach a new level of precision, direct tip response and active skiing pleasure.
3D.GLASS is Völkl’s development to furthermore improve overall ski performance and stability even in critical snow conditions. Compared to classic glass constructions the three-dimensional and multiple-folded glass layers in the tip and in the tail area result in an increased edge grip and a more vivid rebound behavior in turns.
The titanium setup makes the ski agile and dynamic. Especially friends of a hard, fast and aggressive riding style benefit from the quick response of this construction.
The combination of beech and poplar results in an extremely durable wood core composed of hard wood in the binding area and lighter wood around.
Base P-TEX 4504
A sintered, ultra-high molecular polyethylene base with an extremely high density. Besides a great wear resistance and perfect wax absorption the P-Tex 4504 is extremely fast and exclusively used on our top of the line and race models. The material has been upgraded with special additives to make it thermal and electro-conductive and proves its qualities with premium glide and maximum speed in races.

Ski review Völkl Racetiger SL
At the 2022/2023 WorldSkitest the skis in the category „Race SL“ were closely evaluated at Silvretta Montafon. Tester’s opinion: "With the newly adapted and highly innovative "Racetiger SL" even faster edge changes than its predecessors are possible and so this model scores enormously with its short turns. The "Völkl" also skillfully plays its strengths in all other areas and ends up in a very good midfield with this great performance. A reliable partner in the race."
