The river Rhône and the mountains of the Alps is what gave the region in the southeast of France its name. The Winter Olympic Games took place here three times already: 1924 in Chamonix, 1968 in Grenoble and finally 1992 in Albertville.

Wine, cheese, apricots, walnuts – the list of local creations and specialties is long. Rhône-Alpes has a huge amount of top-quality restaurants – the region is outbid only by Paris.
