Turoa at Mt Ruapehu – a standout in terms if natural beauty!

Turoa will never become famous due to its terrain or lift facilities. It’s location in the heart of the Tongarino Nationalpark limits the extension of the resort considerably. Still the two ski resorts Whakapapa and Turoa at Mt Ruapehu are even internationally speaking very unique. Located at one of the most active volcanoes in New Zealand (1996 the resort had to close temporarily due to an eruption) ski vacations there are a truly spectacular experience. No matter if beginner or snow sports crack every body will find at least two or three nice trails!. And if you do get bored at Turoa after a while, Whakapapa (New Zealands largest ski resort) located at the other side of the volcano, is just a one hour drive away.

      Snowboarding at Turoa
My daughter had a group lesson at Turoa, last year and this year. Last year skiing and this year snowboarding. She loved both and we keep going to Turoa often. Turoa has excellent instructors, Claudia, you are a star.

      Small but nice!
Beautiful view on the lowlands, many downhills for advanced and good preparation. Downhill runs are usually shorter than in the European Alps and not so wide, but this was not a problem due to the ... Read complete review
