Artificial Snowmaking & Advantageous Location

At Sun Peaks, only 20% of slopes are covered by artificial snowmaking facilities. However, due to its advantageous location at an altitude of 1,255m (village) and 2,152m (summit), the ski resort is considered a snow-sure destination, offering 150 days of skiing.

During our visit in mid-December, there was not a single spot on the slopes not covered with snow. Notwithstanding, if there were not tons of fresh snow, powder lovers should not start out for Sun Peaks right after its season opening, as the resort is quite dependent on mother nature. The same is true for freestylers, who'd love to explore the Rockstar Terrain Park – the amount of snow needed in order to construct all its features is massive.

Yet, there's great news: Sun Peaks' operators assured the expansion of artificial snowmaking facilities in this part of the ski resort, in order to speed up the whole construction process of the terrain park in the future.
