Treasure Hunt in the Snow
On Saturday, April 18, the "Gamsleiten Kriterium" is back on the agenda in Obertauern. Known as “Austria’s largest treasure hunt in the snow,” the event is already entering its 18th round this year. Set against the stunning backdrop of Obertauern and accompanied by great music, you can dive into the snow alongside 1,200 other participants and start digging for the buried treasure chests.
As the name suggests, the treasure hunt takes place on the Gamsleiten slope. The area can be reached via the black run Gamsleiten 2. Alternatively, you can simply walk up to the search area from the top station of Gamsleiten 1.
Attractive Prizes
More than 30 treasure chests are buried within the designated search area in the snow. They’re filled with fantastic prizes such as season passes and ski tickets for Obertauern, new carving, touring, or freeride skis, ski weekends, VIP tickets to a football match, or even a year’s supply of beer. This year’s grand prize is a luxurious BMW 123 xDrive!
How to Take Part
Participation in the treasure hunt costs €65. However, tickets are limited, so if you want to strike gold, you’ll need to be quick and register online. Your participation ticket must be exchanged for a старт number at the draw on Friday, April 17, 2026.
By the way: the ski season in Obertauern runs until May 3, 2026. So be sure to bring your skis along and enjoy a few more runs on the spring snow.
