Ski Opening: Helene Fischer to Kick Off the Winter Season in Schladming

Following last winter’s hugely successful Backstreet Boys concerts, Schladming’s Ski Opening is once again set to be a spectacular event: On December 11, 2026, german superstar Helene Fischer and her band will kick off the winter season with an open-air concert at Planai Stadium.

In cooperation with the Schladming-Dachstein tourism region and the Schladming 4-Mountain Ski Area—which comprises Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm—the Leutgeb Entertainment Group is bringing one of Europe’s biggest live acts to Austria. Tickets for the highly anticipated concert go on sale on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10 a.m.

A Band-Only Concert – Up Close and Personal

Ski Opening: Helene Fischer to Kick Off the Winter Season in Schladming

Helene Fischer has ranked among Europe’s most successful live performers for many years. She is currently thrilling more than 750,000 fans in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands on her spectacular 360-degree stadium tour, filling stadiums and arenas throughout the German-speaking world.

For the Ski Opening in Schladming, she will appear in a special, more intimate format: accompanied by her band and without the full-scale stadium production, creating a particularly personal and powerful atmosphere instead. Against the impressive backdrop of the Dachstein mountains, Planai Stadium will once again become one of Europe’s most extraordinary concert venues, with Helene Fischer performing her greatest hits in an atmospheric live setting.

A Star-Studded Line-Up of Past Headliners

The Schladming-Dachstein Ski Opening has become a firm fixture on Europe’s event tourism calendar in recent years. Previous headliners have included Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams, Sting and Simply Red. Most recently, the Backstreet Boys delivered one of the event series’ most successful season openings to date in December 2025. With Helene Fischer, the region is now continuing its tradition of attracting major international stars.

Promoter Klaus Leutgeb of the Leutgeb Entertainment Group emphasized how important the concert is for the region. He described Helene Fischer opening the winter season in Schladming-Dachstein as something truly exceptional and said the concert would offer visitors an unusually intimate and personal experience with the star.

Concertgoers can easily combine their trip with the start of the ski season. At the heart of the region is the Schladming 4-Mountain Ski Area, which links Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm into one continuous ski area with around 123 kilometers of slopes. Alongside sporting challenges such as the legendary FIS downhill course and the Nightrace on the Planai, the region also offers funslopes, freestyle parks and dedicated children’s areas for its youngest winter sports enthusiasts.

Depending on snow conditions, the 2026/27 winter season is expected to begin in late November or early December 2026 and traditionally continues through April 2027. The Ski Opening with Helene Fischer therefore falls right at the start of the season and will mark the official beginning of the winter vacation in Schladming-Dachstein for many visitors.
