Völkl VTA 98 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2019/2020)

Product Summary

Due to its lighweight construction the Völkl VTA 98 is easy to handle not only downhill but also during longer ascents. The Völkl VTA 98's full retail price is €650. The Ski costs roughly €40 more than the average price of all Backcountry Touring Skis, making it an upper mid-range model. This ski is just right for good skiers. Stable but not overpowering. The VTA 98 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. The ski is available from 156 to 184cm.

The ski in details

The uphill-oriented VTA 98 replaces the Nanuq and offers the best possible skiing performance while on the descent. The 98mm waist is suited for solid flotation in softer snow, while offering light weight for climbing and easy handling on harder snow conditions. It features all of our touring technologies, including a lightweight multi-layer wood core, touring optimized tip shape, and a carbon tip stabilizer. It also features the ICE.OFF top sheet, designed to keep snow from sticking and further optimizing weight reduction when the skier needs it most.
