Völkl Blaze 94 (Powder Ski 2023/2024)

Product Summary

The Völkl Blaze 94's full retail price is € 650. The Ski is roughly € 30 cheaper than the average price of all Powder Skis, making it a mid-range model. Skilled skiers will enjoy both relaxed cruising and pushing the ski to its limit. The Blaze 94 is a pure freeride ski. Riding on groomers is no problem but due to its fairly wide waist the ski has a strong bias towards powder runs. Available lengths for the ski are ranging between 158 and 186cm. The ski is very agile and performs well in all sizes of turn radius - both long and short. The radius ranges from 13 m to 19 m (depending on the length of the ski).

The ski in details

Do it all in deep snow – at 94 mm, this is a real master of every snow scenario.

A 0.3 mm thick Titanal binding platform provides direct power transfer and builds pressure quickly for a fast response when switching edges. The ski’s faster, more direct response is especially welcome in narrow and rough terrain – and takes less effort too. The secret largely lies in the 3D radius sidecut. The Blaze is designed primarily for short, fast turns, but its three different radii and tip-to-tail hybrid multi-layer wood core adapt to any riding style, however ambitious. Another notable feature is the suspension tip. An elasticated, rubbery material on the tip and tail acts like a bumper, especially in wind-blown and tracked conditions, making the ski more settled and providing fantastic flotation. The Blaze is popular for freeride touring too, thanks to its light weight. That’s why Völkl also offers Smart Glue skins tailored to each Blaze model.

Technologies

3D Radius Sidecut
Three radii in one ski for maximum TURNING & SPEED VERSATILITY IN ALL MOUNTAIN SKIING LONG TIP & TAIL RADIUS

Base P-Tex 2100
A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability

Full Sidewall
Direct and strong powertransmission with full length sidewalls.

Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore
Light and very stable poplar and beech woods, individually weighed and selected by weight before gluing, are used in this wood core.

Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore 1
In the area around the steel edges, a poplar wood hand-picked by weight provides the necessary stability, while in the center of the ski, the soft and light Paulownia wood ensures the ski's flexibility.

Multilayer Woodcore 1
The side wall is laminated to extremely stable layers of wood on the sides of the sandwich core.

Suspension Tips & Tails
Inserts made of elastic TPU material on the edges of the tip and tail which act like a bumper in wind-blown or tracked snow. Its shock-absorbing elasticity ensures better stability and catch-free float.

Tip & Tail Rocker
Character: Bends up only in the shovel and tail zones, with a camber shape in the middle

Titanal Binding Platform
A thin Titanal layer (0,3 mm) under the binding delivers the necessary strength to the ski. This way the binding screws offer reliable hold even in the toughest conditions.

Woodcore
Special PU construction with a wooden core in the ski body.
