K2 Wayback 98 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2025/2026)

Product Summary

The K2 Wayback 98 is the perfect tool during both downhill rides and steep ascents. Thanks to its low weight, the ski is easy to master even on longer trips. The K2 Wayback 98's full retail price is €700. The Ski costs roughly €50 more than the average price of all Backcountry Touring Skis, making it an upper mid-range model. Skilled skiers will enjoy both relaxed cruising and pushing the ski to its limit. The Wayback 98 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. Available lengths for the ski are ranging between 165 and 186cm.

The ski in details

The any-day, any-conditions touring ski

The all-new Wayback 98 is the most universal tool in the Wayback collection. Narrow enough for a spring tour but wide enough to navigate variable conditions. Featuring K2's Titanal Touring Tech and All Terrain Rocker, a gradual rise in the tip for great versatility in all conditions, with a low, short rise in the tail for added control in variable snow. K2 redefines the standard for lightweight and high-performance touring skis in the Wayback 98.

Weight: 1390g @ 179cm

Technologies

Titanal Touring Technology
Titanal Touring Technology is based on the premise that going downhill is the priority. As with the high-end piste and freeride skis, K2 has  incorporated Titanal laminates into the construction of the award-winning Wayback and Talkback skis. The weight of the touring skis speaks for itself, and they´ll let the smile on your face at the bottom of the run speak to their downhill performance.

Bio-Resin
Eco-friendly material for energetic and consistent flex across a wide range of temperatures.

All-Terrain Rocker™
Gradual rise in the tip with a short, low section in the tail for greater versatility in all conditions.

Paulownia Core
Lively, flexible wood with excellent weight to strength ratio.
