Black Diamond Helio Carbon 95 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2023/2024)

Product Summary

The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 95 is the perfect tool during both downhill rides and steep ascents. Thanks to its low weight, the ski is easy to master even on longer trips. The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 95's full retail price is 850 €. The Ski costs roughly 240 € more than the average price of all Backcountry Touring Skis, making it a real luxury Ski. Skilled skiers will enjoy both relaxed cruising and pushing the ski to its limit. The Helio Carbon 95 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. Available lengths for the ski are ranging between 155 and 183cm.

The ski in details

Our mid-sized carbon ski that’s built to slay backcountry turns from the Cordillera Blanca to the Canadian Rockies, the Black Diamond Helio Carbon 95 balances playful, soft-snow performance with precision. The Helio 95’s pre-preg carbon fiber layup and full-perimeter ABS sidewalls has improved dampness for a smoother ride, while the engineered paulownia core keeps the ski light for long tours. The Helio 95 also maintains a smooth flex and torsional stiffness for reliable, responsive skiing on the way down. Early rise in the tip and tail improves flotation and trail-breaking efficiency, and an ABS tail protector also has an integrated skin-clip tab to keep your skins secure.

Technologies

Prepreg Fiberglass (Helio Carbon)
This layup is optimized for efficiency without giving up downhill performance. This layup is ideal for any backcountry mission.

Engineered Paulownia Wood Core
Paulownia wood is the material of choice when light weight is required, but compromising downhill performance is not an option. It has good compressive and shear properties, which allow for remarkably smooth and chatter-free ski performance at very low weight.

Full Perimenter ABS Sidewalls
ABS sidewalls wrap the entire perimeter of the ski, offering optimal durability and Internal Core damping. Used on skis designed for maximum downhill performance and durability, but optimized for minimal weight.
