The ski in details
Lightweight, highly versatile, and constructed with lower-impact materials, the all-round Atomic Backland 88 is the ultimate touring ski of the future.
The Atomic Backland 88 is a versatile touring ski designed with sustainability in mind, shaping the future of the sport. Its construction, optimized on the basis of a scientific life cycle assessment, generates less production waste and 30% fewer CO₂-equivalent emissions (compared to the Backland 85 from 2021), without sacrificing a single gram of performance. The reason: more raw materials with lower CO₂ emissions are used, along with waste-reducing sidewalls. In addition, the All-Terrain Profile, made with more poplar wood but less fiberglass and resin, enhances the ski’s stability. HRZN 3D technology, with its beveled tip, ensures better lift in powder. It also works in harmony with the Dura Cap sidewall, enabling direct power transfer from the tip to the sidewalls and edges. The Backland 88 offers the perfect blend of flow and performance for ski tourers exploring the entire mountain. For the ultimate touring setup, the matching PreFit skin from Atomic is available.
