Atomic Backland 78 (Backcountry Touring Ski 2019/2020)

Product Summary

Due to its lighweight construction the Atomic Backland 78 is easy to handle not only downhill but also during longer ascents. The Atomic Backland 78's full retail price is €349.99. The Ski is roughly €260 cheaper than the average price of all Backcountry Touring Skis, making it an affordable entry-level model. The ski is very smooth and forgiving. It's the perfect tool for intermediate skiers. The Backland 78 is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. The ski is available from 151 to 175cm.

The ski in details

With a 78mm waist and Ultra Light Woodcore, the Atomic Backland 78 is the lightest ski in our Backland touring series. It’s perfect for all alpine touring nuts out there as it’s light for climbing but still performs on the way down: in fact, the smaller waist width and All Mountain Rocker ensure total control at all times even on hardpack, while the Cap Sidewall construction absorbs shocks, makes it robust and ensures solid edge grip on all terrain. Finally for skinning you can choose prefit skins for the Backland 78.
