Skiing fun in the Empire State

The state with the most ski resorts in the US is: New York! Only a few miles outside of the global metropolis of the same name you can explore some amazing mountain terrain. The state is home to no less than around 50 ski resorts. The two mountain ranges Catskills and Adirondack Mountains are especially popular among New Yorkers. Whiteface Mountain is one of the best resorts on the entire East Coast and offers around 90 trails for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. In addition, all of the resorts provide off-piste terrain with backcountry powder to keep you coming back for more.

Having said that, many ski resorts in New York are relatively small and particularly popular with families. Aside from fun on the slopes, there are numerous other activities to enjoy here, such as snow shoe hikes, snow-tubing or riding a snowmobile to liven up your winter vacation! Famous family resorts in the state include Gore Mountain and Greek Peak.

Due to the proximity to New York City, the resorts are easy and convenient to get to. Many German airports offer direct flights to NYC. Numerous resorts are just a couple of hours away from the metropolitan area, which is why a rental car is probably the easiest and most efficient way to travel to the mountains.
