Throughout the day, there might be a chance of showers. In the east, the forenoon is mostly cloudy, refreshed with some occasional rain in the midday. Scattered showers are expected to give way to some clouds in the evening. The west is expected to be able to enjoy a wonderful day full of sunshine. A mix of sun and cloud is in store in the forenoon for today. The snow line runs at approximately 2000m above sea level. A light north breeze brings along balmy temperatures.

Skiing Fun in the Balkans

Bulgaria is usually known for its 'Gold Beach'. But even for winter sport enthusiasts it has become a favorite winter destination.

The skiing region Bansko in the Pirin Mountains is supposedly one of the most modern resorts in the eastern part of Europe. Here people invested lots of money into the infrastructure of the skiing area which is why you will find lifts and pistes in top conditions. With more than 50 kilometers of trails (31 mi) it is very much able to compete with ski resorts in the Alps.

Regarding the amount of slopes the neighboring area of Borovets in the Rila Mountain Range can definitely keep up with the Alps with 60+ piste kilometers (37+ mi). This area was and still is host to many World Cup races. It is the oldest ski region in Bulgaria and is located directly at the foothills of the Musala Mountain. With a height of 2.925 meters (9596 ft) it is the highest summit in the region of the Balkans.

Other larger skiing regions would be Pamporovo and Chepelare in the Rhodope Mountains.
