Germany's Ski Destination No 1

Skiing is a big deal in Bavaria. Featuring the Bavarian Forest as well as the Bavarian Alps the federal state has lots to offer for snow enthusiasts. With a height of 2,962 meters (9,717 ft)  the Zugspitze literally is the highlight for skiers. You won’t find a higher ski resort in Germany. Additional great places in the Bavarian Alps are Spitzingsee, Sudelfeld and Brauneck.

Bavarians don’t need to cover long distances to get to the next ski resort as they mostly have some ski resort right in front of their doorsteps. This is because of the many low mountain ranges in the region: You will find great ski areas no matter if you are at the Frankenwald, the Fichtelgebirge or the Allgäu region. If you decide to head to Arber, Ochsenkopf or Feuerberg you’ll be positively surprised with easy access, family-friendliness and a good value.

Moreover, there are a lot more activities to explore at the mountains. Check out tobogganing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking options. After a day on the slopes you can’t go home without a hearty meal. The Bavarian cuisine is best-known for specialties like roast pork, dumplings and other pastries.
