Canada’s Most Western Province

Alberta is one of the most important skiing regions in Canada. The most western province in Canada is characterized by the Rocky Mountains and therefore offers top conditions for winter sport enthusiasts. Here you will find some of the most famous skiing regions in all of Canada. Very popular indeed is Banff National Park which is a great location for powder snow maniacs. Lake Louise, Mt. Norquay and Sunshine Village offer a huge variety of slopes. Together they form the 'Big 3' with a total of 3,000 hectares and more than 270 runs. The very dry snow and the large deep-snow slopes attracts skiers from all over the world.

The largest city in Alberta is Calgary. Starting in Calgary you can reach many ski resorts very easily, for example the resort Nakiska you are able to reach within an hour. This ski area is very popular with freestyle skiers and snowboarders. It harbors the oldest halfpipe which some say is the best halfpipe in Alberta. A real insider is the ski resort Castle Mountain close to the Waterton Lake National Park. Here you supposedly find the best powder snow in Alberta. Fans of tree skiing will have great possibilities to discover unknown terrain here.

From Frankfurt/Main there are multiple airline companies which offer direct flights to Calgary. You have more options if you consider a stopover in London or Amsterdam.
