The Ski Resort
The Vall de Núria ski resort offers fun on the slopes at an altitude of almost 3000 metres, with magnificent views over the Vall de Ribes valley. The starting point is the Santuari de la Mare de Déu de Núria, a sacred site from which you can access the 11 perfectly groomed slopes of the ski resort. The ski resort is the ideal place to recharge your batteries away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the beautiful winter landscape of the Pyrenees.
In Vall de Núria, beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers will find the slopes that suit them. Three green runs offer flat terrain for those who dare to ski for the first time and children can let off steam in Parc Lúdic. Those who already have some practice will find perfect conditions on the blue slopes Les Creus, Coma del Clot and Funicular.
Advanced and professional skiers take the De La Pala chairlift up to 2252 metres, where they can catch a last glimpse of the wonderful landscape. Then they plunge onto the black Pala Bèstia and ride down the entire slope in one go. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, try the red Mulleres run or skirt the steep slope on the blue Les Creus run, which promise less adrenaline but all the more beautiful scenery.
- The vertical drop from summit to base is 945 ft. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Spain is 1801 ft. Runs and slopes are therefore relatively short. The ski resort takes you to an elevation of 7388 ft.
- The day pass at Vall de Nuria is €31 making it one of the 3 cheapest ski Resorts Spain Pyrenees.
- Average snow depth during the season is 24 " at summit elevation and 12 " at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during December, offering an average snow depth of 24 " at summit elevation and 12 " at the base.
On Mountain Dining
You can dine like the monks who once lived in the Vall de Núria at Cabana dels Pastors. The barbecue platters with organic beef from Ripollès are outstanding and let you enjoy the winter flavours of Spanish cuisine
For the small hunger in between, you can choose between sandwiches, pasta, and salads at Restaurante Finestrelles. In the Grill Autoservicion you serve yourself at a counter where different menus and Spanish dishes are offered
If you bring your own food, you can take a break in the Zona Pícnic. There you can enjoy the view of nature in the fresh air and have lunch with your friends
Great for the whole family is Parc Lúdic, where young winter sports enthusiasts can whizz down the toboggan slope on snowtubes, build snowmen and let off steam in the winter playground with cable car
If you like adrenaline, don't miss the Pala Bèstia black run. There you can ski through the forest from the highest point of the area down into the valley
A great view of the valley can be enjoyed on the Les Creus slope. Both beginners and advanced skiers can ski down the blue slope and enjoy the nature in a relaxed way
Try Ice Scuba Diving in Vall de Nuría and embark on a spectacular journey under the icy lake. For the less adventurous, Parc Lúdic has a toboggan run with snow tubes for the whole family to ride down the slope
For snowshoe hikers, there are three different routes in Núria. Beginners can explore the valley around Santuarí in an hour on the Mirador del Canal route. You can get a great view of the lake on the 1.6-kilometre Mirador del Llac route. Sporty runners can take the Pont Escudé route and discover the off-piste landscape, untouched by skiers. This route takes about 2.5 hours and is steeper than the two routes for beginners
If outdoor sports are too cold for you, take your children to the Cau de la Marmota, where there is something for all children between the ages of four and ten, from archery to make-up workshops
Après-Ski and Nightlife
In the Sala del Estatut of the Hotel Vall de Núria you can end the evening with a nice wine or a Spanish beer
Dining and Restaurants
Spectacular show cooking can be found in the restaurant of the Vall de Núria Hotel. Here you can watch the chefs prepare Spanish specialities
Infrastructure & Rental
The two ski schools offer snowboard and ski courses for groups and individuals. At the Oxineu ski school you can also book a guided snowshoe hike
In the ski depot you can rent equipment for skis and snowboards and in the ski shop you have a small selection of ski clothes in case you forgot something at home. The shop is more of a souvenir shop, but also has a manageable range of sportswear
If you have an accident on site, the Vall de Nuría medical centre is your first port of call around the clock.
The ski area is located in the middle of the Spanish Pyrenees on the border with France near Ribes de Freser. The valley station is only accessible via the Cremallera de Núria rack railway.
Stations for the rack railway are located in Queralbs, Ribes-Villa and Ribes Enllac. There are plenty of parking spaces to leave your car
The fastest way to get to the rack railway is by car from Girona or Barcelona airports. From Girona you can reach the ski resort via the C 25, from Barcelona the C 17 leads to Queralbs
