The Ski Resort
In the midst of the Chiemgau Alps, the Unternberg attracts with 5.5 kilometres of perfectly groomed and snow-covered slopes. The winter sports area south of Ruhpolding is especially popular with families because of its clear layout.
Beginners can make their first attempts on the boards on the two easy short slopes in the valley area. The two blue slopes are accessed by two practice lifts. The youngest children are in good hands in the ski kindergarten where they can learn the ABCs of alpine winter sports. Those who are already a little more confident on their skis can explore the slopes, which are also marked in blue, at the FIS lift and the Kegel lift.
Experienced skiers and snowboarders take the double chair lift to the highest point of the ski area. Once they reach the summit at 1,450 metres, they can first enjoy the magnificent panorama of the Central Alps and Lake Chiemsee and then make their tracks in the snow on a red marked slope. Not far from the summit there is also a small fun park where freestylers can hone their moves.
The lower area of the ski area around the FIS lift is brightly lit every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for night skiing with floodlights. Then the winter sports enthusiasts can ski down to the valley on a blue and a red marked slope.

- Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 60 " at summit elevation and 20 " at the base. Therefore Unternberg Ruhpolding is among the 15 ski Resorts with best snow conditions in Germany.
