The Ski Resort

San Bernardino is a hidden gem for those who want to enjoy winter away from large ski resorts. Here, winter sports enthusiasts can find a perfect blend of variety, tranquility, and good accessibility, all set within the stunning mountain landscape south of the main Alps ridge.
Located in the Graubünden canton, San Bernardino combines alpine charm with a touch of Italian flair. Two complementary ski areas are available for winter sports enthusiasts: Confin and Pian Cales. Thanks to its altitude of up to 2,525 meters, San Bernardino offers consistent snow conditions throughout the season. The compact size of the area is particularly favorable for families, beginners, and leisure skiers who appreciate a clear, relaxed skiing experience.
The larger area, Confin, stretches from the valley station at 1,637 meters to the highest point at 2,525 meters. With approximately 34 kilometers of slopes, there is a varied selection of blue and red runs. More advanced skiers can challenge themselves on the black Al Mur piste, which requires more technical skill. The lower section has a dedicated practice area with conveyor belts, making it easier for beginners to get started.
For those looking to try freestyle skiing away from the main pistes, the Confin Snowpark is the perfect spot. Designed for beginners and children, it features small jumps, mini ramps, and low boxes, providing a safe environment for first-time tricks.
Pian Cales, located at 1,600 meters in the center of the village, offers 5 kilometers of clear, manageable pistes, making it especially suitable for beginners and families. A learning area and several magic carpets ensure a hassle-free start on skis. In the evening, some of the runs are illuminated – perfect for those who want to enjoy skiing after sunset.
Conveniently, both ski areas can be accessed with a single lift pass, making planning and access particularly easy.
