Harakiri and Devil's Run attract skiers in need for an extra thrill

The names Harakiri and Devil's Run leave no doubts that these are among the most challenging runs in the Alpine region. In fact, the Harakiri run with its gradient of 78% is steeper than the run-up track of an average ski jump. However, as the steep part is only 600 m long the adrenaline rush won't last very long.
The Devil's Run (slope No.17) leads from the 2,278m (7,474ft) high Horberg mountain to the mountain station of the Horbergbahn funicular. Due to its short but steep slope towards the end, the Devil's Run has gained the reputation to be the preliminary test for the Harakiri run.The black slope No.12 at the Katzenmoos lift is the third black run in Mayrhofen. In our test Mayrhofen reached a 4 star rank. The 5 stars could have been awarded to Mayrhofen if it could have only provided a freeride area, as one may find it in Hochfügen, which is also a part of Zillertal. In addition, a better offer on ungroomed runs remains desirable. Directly located at the Vans Penken Park, the permanent race track is facilitated with time measurement.
