The Ski Resort
Kolsås Skisenter sits on the eastern side of Kolsåstoppen in the municipality of Bærum — just ten minutes from Bekkestua and roughly 25 minutes from central Oslo. It is the largest alpine centre in the municipality and has been a fixture for skiers from Oslo's western suburbs since the Second World War. The north-facing aspect delivers an unusually long season: snow often holds here until after Easter. Four runs — from beginner slopes to a more sporting main descent — offer varied terrain for families and club athletes. A dedicated children's area gives the youngest skiers a sheltered start.
Kolsås is deeply rooted in local ski culture: three Bærum sports clubs — Haslum IL, Fossum IF and Stabæk IF — jointly own and run the ski centre. The legendary Blåveisrennet, held here from 1947 to 1978 on the first Sunday after Easter, was revived in 2022 and has since established itself as a new tradition.
