The Ski Resort
Sogndal Skisenter Hodlekve sits in the municipality of Sogndal on the inner Sognefjord — the longest and deepest fjord in Europe — and ranks among the most snow-reliable ski resorts in western Norway, with a season frequently stretching from November to May.
The terrain is surprisingly varied: from wide family runs and two dedicated children's areas through steep, challenging slopes to what has made the resort famous across the country — the Hodlekveskogen. This enormous north-facing mountainside cloaked in dense birch forest is regarded by freeriders as one of the finest tree runs in Norway.
From the summit lift, you head east, then 600 metres of first-class powder skiing through the forest await, down to the main road. There, the ski centre's "Powder Bus" collects riders and ferries them back to the lift — on big powder days, several buses run at once.

On Mountain Dining
The Dalalåven at the base of the ski area is the central hub: café, ski rental, sports shop and lift pass sales under one roof. For the youngest visitors, the Dalalåven houses a dedicated playroom. In February, the multi-day Alpine Sport Festival draws ski enthusiasts from across the region — days on the mountain, evenings in the town centre.
Nightskiing
Around five kilometres of cross-country trails are floodlit, and evening skiing is also available on the alpine slopes.
Activities
The cross-country offering includes roughly ten kilometres of groomed trails, five of which are floodlit. At weekends, an additional 25 kilometres are groomed up on the plateau. The resort also offers guided ski tours with up to 950 metres of vertical gain, as well as snowshoe hikes. The setting is unmatched: with the mighty Sognefjord at your back and glacier peaks all around, few ski resorts in Norway can rival the scenery.
