The Ski Resort
The ski area Herzogstand is idyllically situated at Lake Walchensee in Upper Bavaria. Visitors can expect a challenging terrain with deep-snow slopes and groomed pistes as well as a five-kilometre-long downhill run with a view of the Walchensee.
The Herzogstandbahn transports winter sports enthusiasts from the base station in Walchensee to the 1,600-metre-high top station at Fahrenberg. From there it goes over the Fahrenberghang, Haushang and Martinskopfhang slopes to the Fahrenberg lift or further over the Felseneck and Kaltwasserboden slopes back down to the valley. Experienced skiers turn right after the Kaltwasserboden into the steep slopes of the black run. Once in the valley, a shuttle bus brings skiers with a day ticket back from Urfeld to the base station in Walchensee free of charge.
