The Ski Resort

Located on Mount Saint Patrick in New Zealand's South Island, Hanmer Springs Ski Area is just 17km from the alpine resort village of Hanmer Springs. Open to public everyday without queues or crowds, Hanmer Springs boasts plenty of terrain for intermediate (60%) and advanced skiers (30%). Another 10% is dedicated to beginner skiers. The vertical drop is 310m with a skiable terrain of 52 ha at an elevation of 1,769 m. Snow grooming is done on a regular basis on all main beginner and intermediate runs.

Lifts & Terrain Park

Three lifts, namely a Poma lift, a rope tow and a fixed grip learners tow carry you up the mountain. Hanmer Springs also features a Terrain Park with natural hits. However, tables are pushed up on request, so feel free to contact the staff. If you are feeling hungry, head to the Day lodge - self cater cooking facilities are available to the public.

Suited to All Levels

Close to the base area, there is a dedicated beginners' zone helping to get you started. The local yet international ski and snowboard school is on hand for both private and group lessons and always happy to help. For those on the more experienced side, there are numerous hiking and ski-touring opportunities provided. Whether it is a day trip or an overnight adventure you are after, please make sure to consult the staff prior your departure, as there is no ski patrol or avalanche control outside the ski area boundary.
