The Ski Resort
Hallbjønn Høyfjellssenter sits on the Skafsåheia plateau in the province of Telemark, halfway between Dalen in western Telemark and Valle in Setesdal along county road 45. The small, family-friendly ski area lies at around 800 metres above sea level in a high-mountain area known for its exceptionally reliable snow. Two surface lifts — "Vesle Bjønn" for the lower section and "Store Bjønn" for the upper — serve roughly 6,000 metres of runs through naturally varied terrain up to the summit of Berhomfjell at 1,100 metres. At the top, a superb panoramic view over the surrounding mountain landscape awaits. The south-facing slopes are suitable for alpine skiing, snowboarding and telemark skiing alike. Three runs of varying difficulty are available in total.

Snow Safety & Snowmaking

On Mountain Dining
The Fjellstua at the base of the ski area is the gastronomic heart of the centre, serving regional, homemade dishes — including specialities from its own smokehouse. The Fjellstua houses a café and a pub and can also be booked for private events. Right at the bottom station, the Varmestue (warming hut) is open whenever the lifts are running.
Activities
Around the centre, the Skafsåheia Løypelag maintains 60 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails through varied high-mountain terrain. In summer, the area is a popular hiking destination with access to the region's dramatic mountain scenery. Hallbjønnsekken lies in a popular cabin area — many visitors spend several days in one of the surrounding holiday cabins.
